2007 Disability Award Recipents

More than 130 people turned out at the Holiday Inn in Jamestown on October 26 for the 19th annual Disability Awareness Awards Celebration, sponsored by The Resource Center and TRC Foundation.

The awards pay tribute to individuals with disabilities who have made significant accomplishments in their lives during the past year, as well as recognize community members, businesses and other organizations that have helped make a difference in improving the lives of persons with disabling conditions.

The 2007 award recipients were as follow:




Advocate of the Year - Carol Peterson of Jamestown.






Allied Industries Business Partner - Eagle Industries of Fenton, MO.







Community Support - Roberta Edwards of Ashville.






Employer of the Year - Petri Baking Products of Silver Creek.






Health Provider of the Year - Dr. Anne Shear of Jamestown.






Elmer J. Muench Volunteer of the Year - Don Traynor of Bemus Point.






Outstanding Achievement - Steven Kopta of Dunkirk.






Edwin W. Roth Mental Health Award - Jennifer O'Boyle of Dunkirk and Chandra Woolson of Brocton.





Success of the Year - Alan Nichols of Jamestown.






Lifetime Achievement - Patrick Carroll of Bradford, PA.




Master of Ceremonies for the event was Len Barry of the Arts Council for Chautauqua County. Pat Carroll was the keynote speaker. Other remarks were given by Paul Cesana, The Resource Center’s Executive Director and the President of TRC Foundation; Michael Metzger, the Vice President of The Resource Center’s Board of Directors; Michael Felice, who Chairs TRC Foundation’s Board; and State Senator Catharine Young, who used to work for Pat Carroll at The ReHab Center.

Following the presentation of the awards, FLAME entertained the audience. FLAME is a group of musicians with disabilities from Fulton County, NY. They also performed at last year’s Awards Celebration.
