Annual Disability Awareness Awards Celebration set for October 26

TRC employees, service recipients, family members, and the general public are encouraged to submit nominations for the 18th annual Disability Awareness Awards.

The awards pay tribute annually to persons with disabilities who have made significant strides in their personal lives. The awards also recognize individuals, businesses, organizations, and others that have helped improve the lives of those with disabilities.

Nominations are due September 22. Click here for a listing of the award categories and a nomination form. To submit a nomination, simply complete the form and submit it. A Selection Committee composed of volunteers from the community will meet to choose the award recipients.

As an incentive to encourage people to submit nominations, after the award recipients have been chosen, the names of those people who nominated one of the winners will be entered into a drawing for two tickets to the Disability Awareness Awards Celebration. Three people each wil win a pair of tickets.

The Awards Celebration will be held Friday, October 26, at the Holiday Inn—Jamestown. FLAME, a group of performers with disabilities, will be the entertainment. FLAME performed at the 2006 Awards Celebration and was such a hit that we decided to bring these talented musicians back this year.

The Awards Celebration will begin at 5:00 p.m. with an exhibit of art created by individuals with disabilities. Dinner and the presentation of awards will run from 6:00 to 8:00, with FLAME performing from 8:00 to 10:00. Tickets for the event are $30 per person.
