Kathy Seastedt
Kathy Seastedt
Kathy Seastedt, TRC's Director of Rehabilitation and Community Services, died March 17 while being treated for a blood clot. She was 49.

Kathy joined TRC in 1983 as a Behavior Technician at the Intermediate Care Facility on Foote Avenue, and later that year she became the ICF's Direct Care Supervisor. In 1987, Kathy was promoted to Assistant Manager of the Day Treatment Program on Jones & Gifford Avenue, and in 1990 she was named Manager of the Rehabilitation Services Program.

In 2003, Kathy joined TRC's Executive Management Team as the Director of Rehabilitation and Community Services. In 2004, she served as ICF Administrator to help improve the agency's ICF operations. The following year, she returned to her Director position.

Kathy was always organized, efficient and professional. Respected by her co-workers, Kathy received a number of commendations throughout her TRC career. Perhaps her biggest honor came in 1995, when she received the agency's Employee of the Year Award.

Kathy supported TRC's work in other ways. She was a regular volunteer at TRC-sponsored special events, and she supported our mission financially — last year she was inducted into TRC Foundation's Legacy Circle, having surpassed $1,000 in cumulative donations to The Resource Center and TRC Foundation over the years.

She also volunteered her services outside TRC, and she made her mark in those endeavors as well. In 2004, Kathy received the Volunteer of the Year Award from Family Service of the Chautauqua Region, and she persuaded several other TRC staff members to volunteer their time with the counseling agency, which operates TRC's Employee Assistance Program.

Kathy's funeral was held March 25. TRC plans to hold its own memorial service for Kathy sometime soon.

Kathy is survived by twin sons Jonathan and Patrick and their father, Erik Seastedt, who worked for TRC in the 1980s and '90s. Her family has suggested that anyone wishing to remember Kathy through a financial gift do so by making a contribution to TRC Foundation.
