Karen LaSota's background includes public service, employment training, human services, and program administration. She came to The Resource Center in 2003 from Erie Community College where she had been a dean. Previously, she was the Executive Director of Cattaraugus/Allegany County Private Industry Council (PIC) and SkilLinks, the counties' employment training program under the Job Training Partnership Act.

She has held positions or performed consultant work with Economic Opportunity Council, Chautauqua Opportunities, Neighborhood Reinvestment, Jamestown Youth Bureau, Salvation Army, Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board, and Jamestown Public Schools. In her community, Karen served 10 years as the Supervisor of the Town of South Valley, and she has always been committed to environmental causes and animal welfare. She holds a master's degree from Fredonia and earned a certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) from Cornell.
